You need to fake a PhD when you aim for a peasant media!
Your humble blogger has been busy with teaching and tutoring load, administrative duties, endless meetings and editing crappy open-access journals where any fool can publish if they can pay $$s.
To keep his job, he edits some books from cash starving university presses where one can publish if he can spare $$s! When he is a bit free, when he turned to Burmese media and social news outlets, he found it is disturbing to see most Burmese peasants (call them laymen?) don't understand where PhD doctors write and show case their scholarly works. Since fake PhD Burmese writes in popular blogs like Irrawaddy, DVB, etc.. Burmese assume that they are legitimate show-casing research outlets where PhD doctors should write to publicize their works.
Your blogger needs to explain you the golden rule of true research doctorates aka PhDs. For example, in your blogger's research field, there are less than a dozen professors in the whole world who could understand and appreciate his scholastic works. And he'd be happy if only ten of them like his work, peer-reviewed referred papers, then he is happy. Sorry to say this out aloud, but he doesn't give a damn what peasants think of his work. Therefore, he will not waste time to see his work in blogs like Irrawaddy as Irrawaddy audience are peasants.
Sorry to hurt your ego if you were one of those peasants! But this is how the academia and academics work. We only want like-minded peers, i.e. professors and fellow researchers to read and digest our works. Truth hurts but this is how worker bees in Ivory towers prefer. It explains how researchers and professors in university campuses work, we want to see our work in high impact referred journals and not in shoddily edited university presses or popular media outlets.
Having said that, there are fake and real PhDs who crave for media, who love interviews, who want to become peasant media sluts, who act like media buffoons and celebrity morons leveraging their PhDs. That pathetic phenomenon is not only confined to Burma and it is wide spread - see below. When the blog gets audience, the blogger gets famous!
Your blogger has just came back from strings of overseas trips for he has to lecture at the executive programs of 2 universities: one in Pacific and another in Atlantic coastlines. In addition, he also consults some private and public organizations. In other words, he is trying to inform on-line friends and foes that he does not have to suck the balls to get a job. He does not fly First Class, still flies in the cattle class (economy class) but he still does not need to go to budget airlines. That means to travel, to stay in hotel, to get serve a meal at hotel, he does not have to swallow after tiresome 24x7 sucking, writing crappy pieces in some blogs. And he gets invitations from leading professors of conferences, seminars, and symposiums, he prepares and presents keynotes in addition to preparing manuscripts for leading peer-reviewed journals. He is not that successful yet but he does not need sucking nor swallowing to make a living. Now this blog is giving him more invitations from overseas conferences as this blog gets famous. Sometimes smart young people make mistakes too!
An on-line friend of mine, an Arakanese who descended from the long line of Rakhines who have fought and paid their dues for Burma asked me why Dr. Nyein Chan, who earned PhD from UCL
at a young age of 26 made the YouTube video aimed Daw Aung San Su Kyi, our leader!
He lamented why Dr. Nyein Chan, has done that, made the Myanmar Express guy (from Canada)
happy and made us confused. So even your humble blogger is busy, he has asked Dr. Nyein Chan
why has he made Zar Ni's patron (sponsor) or client (sucker) MBBS physcian Doctor - he is a physician so he is addressed as a dr. for courtesy - Ko Ko Gyi (who graduated from the University
of Medicine 2, Myanmar yet he is trying to bite our hands those educated him) delighted!
But Dr. Nyein Chan is a nice guy, he may be young but mature enough to confess when he did something wrong. His reply as follows in his own words:
"Thanks for forwarding this information and your advice. This time I made an error in my judgement. After all, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is a fellow citizen and I agree that she has done so much to restore democracy in our country. I was very upset with her attitude towards current Rakhine issue. In any case, I agree that I should not direct my attacks to her. I feel and believe that we, Myanmars, should be united especially at this time when we are facing foreign invasion and international pressure. I will behave next time. Meanwhile, apologies to you if you were offended by my video."
I think it is part of maturing process, young and smart people take from intelligent and educated to become wise. I hope this blog post will make both my friend and Dr. Nyein Chan happy. We all make mistakes! Don't we?

Zarni could not make noise in Channel News Asia debate

'U Maung Zarni skipped recent debate organized by Channel News Asia. It was [supposed to be held] about 2 weeks ago. The reason he skipped [according to sources in Singapore] was because he [ZN] has been under considerable degree of stress' for being investigated by 'LSE and UW Madison and also out of fear that people would question his academic credentials (PhD?).'
Your humble blogger cannot confirm nor deny this but he thinks lesser noise he can make, the better for others to have genuine dialogue. In that sense, this blog is still serving the founding purpose.

- a faker is a Burmese, or a Burmese origin who is embarrassing us

- a non-Burmese, nothing to do with Burmese but he is exposed by investigative journalists and fellow academia
The reason is simple. I don't have time for exposing all fake PhDs. There are thousands of them, half of some parliaments or cabinets. Exposing them is not my mission. My mission is to serve Burma, my country from a distance. I have made enough enemies and I am not proud of it. I have tonnes of things to do, my employer may not be happy to see me wasting time blogging while should be teaching, publishing and taking power naps in meetings. I prefer to use my time for chasing skirts, handsome boys are welcome too, rather than wasting time in exposing fakers around the world. My mission is simple, it is just for my country, Bamar Pyi. Please stop sending the name of people you dont like or hate to me. I will not waste time for you or your foes. I hope I have made it clear by now.

Today I saw one of my hall of shame visiting residents is busy. Moe Thee's testimony for intellectual capacity of Zar Ni?
Your blogger has been sick and traveling to places where Internet
access is quite rare and unreliable. However, it does not escape his
attention that Moe Thee Zun, another faker (in his case, he fakes as
a patriot) rushed to rescue Maung Zarni from the gutter. Normally
I will not waste my time on Moe Thee but since he is messing up
with me I have no choice but to return favor. This must be one of
the jokes of the century.
First, I thought of not replying any as I don't want to waste time.
My reason is that Moe Thee is not qualified to discuss this as he
has not earned or faked a PhD. Moe Thee never has written any
thesis in his life, he might have done some class assignments but
it was likely that he sought help from his buddies. I could have
stopped here but my dislike for him is pushing me to write more.
So be it, he asked for it and now he will get it.
Moe Thee is a low-class bum who is lower than fakers in pecking
order. Apart from Zarni, some of the hall of shame residents here
are achievers and they were fooled by some con-men so they paid
for degrees. But they are achievers by any standard. Even Zar Ni,
who cannot prove us that he has written a PhD thesis managed to
publish in some low ranked journals such as edited books. Editted
ones are not really peer review. For example, a professor got quick
cash to burn and he can talk to some university press for a book,
which he will serve as editor. So let's say if your specialty is "South
East Asian Studies", you can ask a chapter from anyone who can
write English, who can pass as an expert so that you can do a favour
yourself a book while contributors can boast of publication. But it is
not really peer-review, gold standard of academia. So Moe Thee is
no where the status of any of this hall of shame residents in this blog.
Moe Thee is just a fool, anyone who was fooled by him, once close
to him know all about him. How about those who are still with him?
There is a cliche "Birds of the same feather fly together." But what

Get your (fake) PhD in 1 minute or 30 seconds
It is easy to generate a certificate as writing a thesis
is challenging. Earn yourself or give yourself a PhD
certificate in 30 seconds if you can type in and click

Faker Maung Zarni who forged PhD is exposed for...
This humble blogger has received accusations from
Zarni's fans that Maung Zarni is named and shamed
for his support for Rohingyars (self-styled invented
name of an ethnic race in northern Arakan, Burma).
No that is not true, he is exposed for we could not
find his thesis at his alma mater, from which he has
possibly dropped out without completing a thesis.
We have found an Adobe Acrobat file from a site,
hosted by one of his clients at Pyin Nya (education)
web site at URL http://www.pyinnya.com. But for
your humble blogger cannot be easily fooled to take
a pdf file as a thesis for it does not contain any hints
of intellectual analysis worthy of a bachelor thesis.
Hence we challenged Maung Zarni that send us his
real PhD dissertation to convince us so that we will
remove him from this hall of shame. And we will
even give public apology to him for accusing him
that we have wrongly accused him.
But till now, we believe that Mr. Zarni did not earn
a PhD as he claimed. His pdf file is crap. Any fool
can write that. If that were a PhD thesis, we think
any of the readers here can also earn PhD from the
University of Wisconsin at a little town "Madison".
Let us repeat this is an academic blog, this blog is
and was created to prevent fakers from messing up
our motherland's higher education. We are not here
for political campaign or hubris. We are honest and

What is a PhD dissertation and what is ProQuest UMI?

the diploma on a person's wall, it still can be a Photoshop
manipulated, a doctored image printed in colour and framed.
For reasons above, to verify whether someone has earned a PhD,
one has no choice but to look for a doctorate (that means PhD)
thesis which is supposed to be written by the suspected holder.
There is another trick in a faker's portfolio of faking tools,
that is to write something crappy, make it about 100 pages.
A doctoral thesis is the condensed compilation of 4 years work
after a 4 or 5 years first degree. That is why it is called a
thesis, a thesis of life-time pursuit for a scholar which is
supposed to widen the field of practice, the body of knowledge.
So now the question is what a real PhD thesis should look alike.

contain, and what it is not, what it should not contain, etc..

stop laughing. If the email below were actually from a real professor, your humble
blogger with fake PhD can earn PhD in English Literature. Anyone who has good
command of English can point out grammatical and contextual errors. Go grab a
high school English grammar text and check yourself. When you address someone,
you follow with a comma (',') and not a column (':') and if you were a professor, you
never write such a crappy English.

An unaccredited private university in Burma?
I am still sick, not sick of cold, fever or terminal fatal illness
but sick of Burmese who are stupid and easy to manipulate.
But your humble blogger with 2 doctorates and 3 Masters is
industrious and so he tried to caught fish. He did not get any
fake PhDs but he found something relevant, he learned about
a new (surely unaccredited) private university in Burma from
the link below. Hail the almighty merciful GOOGLE search
engines, we are enlightened now with the new knowledge that
there is a new entity it calls itself as a university. It is named
as "Garunar L' Université Orientale Royale", I think in English
that might means The Royal University of Mercy in Far East.

dissertations from US, UK universities and an Adobe
Acrobat file which is claimed by Maung Zarni as his
PhD dissertation.
You can say this is the "Double Entrapment Stratagem",
it is to annihilate an enemy's forces they are lured into
the trap, or a variant of the "Successive Waves" attack.
Or just an experimental design to prove/disprove a theory.
First stage is to get samples for your clean references, to

This faker is from Vietnam. Having enrolled in a PhD programme at the

Is the controller of Zarni, a fan or himself is that!!!
Since this blog has been kicked alive to expose those who are faking that
they have earned Doctorates, your humble blogger exposed more than a
dozen fake PhDs, some of them have retracted and recanted their use or
abuse of that Dr. title they faked.
This is not a political blog, its mission is solely for the academic interests.
However, we are one-issue guys and girls and our issue is Burma. Hence,
when we get our chance, yes we made enemies along blogging, pick the
low-hanging fruits, embarrassing and exposing those whom are harming,
doing bad things for Burma, our motherland. But we have decided to keep
our own integrity high. We will not wage a smear campaign unless we get
hard evidence. We never assert unless we strongly believe that inferrring
that someone has been faking that he holds a doctorate is no longer adequate.
Therefore, we make sure we expose those who either fake or forge and we
do not attack anyone who has earned doctorates even if we will never have
meals together with them for we disapprove their political standings.
But since this blog was conceived, since the first "Hall of Shame" fellows
were identified and promoted here as residential fellows to be named and
shamed, we started receiving emails from numerous accounts. They have
suggested us to scrutinize the academic credentials of Dr. Aye Chan, an
academic, a historian about Burmese history in general, Arakanese history
in particular. Being fair guys, we did look up as we have to honour our code
of practice. Our modus operandi is simple and straight forward. If we got a
tip or if we ourselves caught a fish (a faker or forger) we first check those
allegations and we decide should we say authoritatively that that guy or girl
is a faker or should we just state facts that we cannot find a PhD dissertation.
If you are a regular visitor to this humble blog, you might have noticed that
we focus more on a fake PhD - for we cannot find his thesis as he claims to
have written and submitted, check our earlier posts which we share email
exchanges with University of Wisconsin at Madison officials and libarians
of that university and the library of congress. We are not promoting that guy
but we have to state his name again and again because there is a guy who is
a regular visitor to this blog, who named himself as "Ace Boy". Now he is
waging smear campaign against another Arakanese historian, deceased Dr.
Aye Kyaw. So we are speculating that that Ace Boy must be one of Maung
Zarni's (or Mr. Maung Zarni as we do not believe that he has earned a PhD)
controllers (who are using him), or his fans (who are sucking him), perhaps
he himself. While we assume, provoking us with accusations towards our
Sayar Gyi late Dr. Aye Kyaw and Saya Dr. Aye Chan, it does not escape our
minds that that Ace Boy must be someone who hates our Rakhine Oo-Soon
Saya Gyees: Dr. Aye Kyaw and Dr. Aye Chan.
However, we would like to share our supporters that for unknown reasons,
for unknown promoters, we are receiving about 600 to 800 hits a day and

keeps track of Burmese news and make no mistakes
he knows everything.
Until the first half of this week, this blog only states
that Maung Zarni, who claims to have earned a PhD,
might not have submitted a PhD thesis with the title
he claims in his Wikipedia page. Yes, it is true that
we are implying that he is faking but it is never been
an assertion. We just give you facts, such as:
For almost all doctoral dissertations leading to the PhD
from recognised universities in the western democracies
can be found in PMI. It is because all public research
universities are funded by the tax payers' money, their
doctoral work must be shown to public so that a pipe
fitter working in ditch who pays tax and a peasant who
is working in farm who pays taxes know that their tax
Dollars or Pounds will not be wasted on something not
worthy of investigating. For philanthropy endowments
driven private universities need to raise their research
profiles and the PhD research from their universities
must be show cased. A dissertation is equal to one or
two peer-reviewed journal papers depends on stature
of the journal - who cares conferences or edited works!
Normally, you can find PhD dissertation from libraries
of the universities those host graduate schools, or from
Amazon - for the Dutch and few German PhD degrees,
all PhD dissertation are published as the ISBN indexed
books in print format - from where you can buy, search
yourself in Amazon. Or you can get from the national
libraries such as library of congress in the United States,
or from private thesis collections such as PMI-Proquest.
We have searched, consulted with librarians and other
officials and we have posted the results of investigations.
We imply that "to our best knowledge and attempts, we
still cannot find a thesis with that name written by that
authour, we confess that we want you to infer that he,
Maung Zarni does not earn a PhD till now for he has
not submitted a PhD thesis yet.
But for those who do not know, PhD like other degree
programmes or education is not a product but a process,
it trains a candidate how to analyse facts, take a stand
and discuss from that point, defend it necessary, so if
you have earned a PhD from a well respected university
you are not seen as a stupid guy or girl although there

fakers, forgers or cheaters but they are diluters as they

Why one should not be easily impressed by PhDs!
One of the objectives of this blog is to enlighten people so that they will
not be easily fooled, impressed or overwhelmed with awes to someone
who claim they have earned PhDs.
Not only there are not only fakers that who claim to have written a PhD
thesis, not only there are many forgers who bought PhD certificates, but
also there are a lot of degree holders who have paid ghost writers to write
their thesis. They are not fakers and forgers but as you can imagine their
PhD degrees are still not praise worthy even if their degrees are genuine.
I call them cheaters as they cheat. And it is not only in China, India but
that malpractise is infected everywhere, in UK and US. Now you know
to smile or smirk if someone claims if he has earned a PhD. Big smile!

I don't know who he is or she is or I do not care who they are!!

It is not personal or political to print his name here
Your humble bloggers receive some emails accusing us that we are jealous
of fake PhDs especially Maung Zar Ni and we are attacking him, mounting
and charging a political campaign for he is a nice guy, noble humanist who
is promoting Chittagongnian illegal immigrants, blab blab blab, phat phat!!!
No, that is not right. We have no political beliefs, affiliations nor ambitions.
As you can read, we have no intent to let you know who we are. Some of
us may hold double Doctorates and several Masters but we are not doing
this to show off our intellectual capacity. So for us, exposing PhD fakers
is a risky business. We are doing it because no one is doing it.
And moreover, we are neither in those positions to judge his personal beliefs
nor biases nor we do care. He can let his wife and his women folks to break
breads or Roti with those foreign men. However, we cannot allow him to use
an academic credential which we are not sure that he has earned it and weights
associated it that may go against our motherland. But it is not our motivation.
Once he prove a pdf file, a genuine doctorate dissertation - a lesser doctorate
such as EdD is fine too for us - we will clear his name. Till that day, we have
no choice but to keep his name posted here. The same promise for others.
Last but not least, we want to repeat, we do not want to do this. That was
why this blog is very young. We have been aware of some of PhD fakers
and forgers since the first half of 2000s. But we did not do any actions for
we were busy in graduate schools earning double doctorates and masters.

universities, University of Yangon began its life as University College Rangoon
which is the hybrid model of residential colleges of Oxbridge and commuter
colleges of University College London which is under University of London.
The medical education in Burma is not modeled after Alternatica Medicina
but western medicine. That means if you are pursuing MBBS at University
of Medicine 1, that is you are following a western education leading to a
degree from an Asian university that imitates the western model of what a
university is and what undergraduate higher degrees it can offer to students.
In other words, a self-respecting university will never offer bachelor degree
programs in Alternative Medicine or Traditional Medicine. This Latin name
Alternatica Medicina means Alternative Medicine in English. For this reason,
if your PhD is Alternatica Medicina then you are here.
For those who cannot show their PhD thesis, not a crappy Adobe pdf file,
you are here not because we don't appreciate what you have learn from
your half-way PhD drop-out qualification. But you are just an ABD and
you are not allowed to call yourself a "Dr.". So that is why you are here.
Show me real thesis for fakers, show me respectable campus for fakers,
then I will delete you from this list. Those who have bought fake diplomas,
I think you have already achieved a lot, and if I were you I would tear off
those papers which are worth less than toilet papers. For those who had
spent 5 years in a campus but leaving without a degree, I suggest you to
earn some real PhD again.

You can fake someone, but not everyone!
You can fake your PhD after staying in a graduate school
and did not earn the degree for not having enough brain
power. You can buy degrees such as PhD, DBA or EdD
but keep in mind that there is always someone who can
spot fakers and sometimes they will be happy to expose.
A word of advice for you, if you still can get away with
a forged or fake degree to employer, then earn a real one.
A note from us, we are willing to drop your name from
this blog as long as you can show your thesis (for those
who spent some years in graduate school, living there,
wanking around but not enough intellectual capacity to
earn a PhD - even some mental retards can earn real
PhD degrees and it is a not rocket science to earn it.
Or for the case of those who has bought certificates
from unaccredited fake universities, prove us that the
university from where you have earned is accredited.
Or drop your "Dr.". Then your name will be cleared.

Fake degrees that look like the real thing from Harvard!
So if you lived close to a university campus for 6 years, if you attended
some classes and dropped out, if you have sub-PhD degrees such as MS,
EdD, then why would you buy a diploma mill degree when you can fool

Emails from fake Mister Maung Zar Ni, his fans or!!!!
This blog has been receiving dozens of fake emails from fake
guys, girls or gays. They pretend that they send some emails to
HR of LSE, the same person impersonated as an official from
LSE, the same faker or fans of fakers acted as Ms. Bareback
Butter lubed Buttie, a personal assistant to a dean of University
of Wisconin Madison, the alma mater of fake PhD Mr. Maung
Zar Ni. But they are not paying attention to detail. Exposing is
imminent.

this blogger from a Burmese who said he wants to expose fakes
(unfortunately he is a fake or fan of a faker), an official (a fake

for LSE in London, UK and an assistant dean at the University of
Wisconsin at Madison, USA and that AceBoy are sitting in the same
room sharing the same SMTP server set up that strips off the other
emails they or he or she pretend(s) to send. That means they are all
fakes.
From here, we will warn, you, if one more stupid email is received to
those we have been tolerating, real parties concerned will be informed.
One more email, we will send your emails to those real recipients but
unlike you, we will not set up SMTP servers to strip off the addresses
of those recipients but we will forward those fabrications, forgeries and
impersonations straight to them. BTW, it is criminal act to impersonate.

Pinning down a faker stops outsiders messing Burma
Among emails this humble blogger received from fake Brits,
Yankees, one has suggested the blogger to drop the charges
that Zar Ni is a fake doctorate with statement below:
'In any transitional process, ....
.... The healing process begins with ourselves.'
Perhaps that guy, girl or gay knows this blogger supports reforms
in his native country. In fact, he is happy to see the president
U Thein Sein, his leader Daw Aung San Su Kyi and other reformists
are working together for Burma.
So this blogger received a lot of emails from a faker or his fans
with poor attempts to remove Mr. Zar Ni from this list, he wonders
why are they so desperate now. That reached two scenarios below:
First, if Maung Zar Ni were a self styled Dr., faking that he has
earned a doctorate (PhD), no doubt he will surely be desperate,
since PhD is his platform on which he tries to win over those who
do not have theirs. Although someone has faked that he sent to LSE
HR and professors to inform that Maung Zar Ni is a fake, for the
record, this blogger did not do such acts just because Maung Zar
Ni is a Burmese, this bloggers spared his ass for quite long till
he was trying to act against the country. And if he has earned his
PhD from UW Madison then he should not lose his sleep. So keeping
his name here is a fair game.

he was trying to act against the country. And if he has earned his
PhD from UW Madison then he should not lose his sleep. So keeping
his name here is a fair game.

Fake native speakers, faking as the secretary of a vice-chancellor
"It takes one to know one!" is a cliche. This blogger is a superb faker who has bought 2 Doctorates,
3 Masters, who is concurrently chairing 2 professorships at 2 diploma mills: University of Wicosin
at Medisin, registered in the State of California, United States and the Laddon School of Economics registered in the British Virgins Islands. Not impressed yet?
His MBA is from the Harrvarrd School of Bisiness. Being a faker, he may not be endowed with the professorships or chairs but he is well-endowed - go ask the mothers of those pigs who have been sending hate emails to your humble blogger.
This blogger thinks he is very smart. Using fake native speakers and fake email spoofings to fool
him are real insults to his intelligence. Those fake emails show someone is really desperate to quit
his hall-of-shame residential fellowship. Has not it stated very clearly, "Show me the campus, send me the thesis" then I will let you go. Remove fake "Dr.", "Ph.D", "D.BA" from web sites. You will
be free as a fish to go.
A lot of emails received here, all claim one way or another that (self-styled?) Dr. Zar Ni has earned
a real doctorate. But the problem is that those emails are also fakes. Persons are real but the emails did not originate from the email clients of those people. Rather from a free email account such as Gmail (like Thomas Bloom with the Google mail domain). Unless you are a fake, you do not use "gmail.com" account for real serious business dealings. Not learned it in faking PhD 101 class?
Another issue, without putting efforts, this blogger could distinguish between writings of genuine native (English) speakers and Burmese fakers. Non-native speakers think in their mother tongues,
and then they will interpret into English and attributed to that. A pair of trained eyes can read and
decide whether the writer is a genuine native speaker or not. For a Burmese, Indian or Chinese to
be able to think and write like an English native speaker (thus a writer), they not only have to be American or British trained at the university level or above but also have been potty-trained with English nannies. Total immersion is the key! Or they could speak grammatically correct English fluently using rich vocabulary but he or she could not still pass as a native speaker. In other words,
an English sentence composed by a native English speaker and non-native who are wet-nursed by Irish midwives, toilet trained with Scottish nannies, tutored by Welsh teachers, grown up with an
English mistress, taught by American teachers and Australian professors can be set apart, spotted
and discriminated from non-native speakers.
Mr. Blooms, Ms. Bareback Buttie are no American from Madison and London but some foolish Burmese trying their best to pass as an English man or an American girl. Try another time!!

But in some, like Louisiana and Hawaii, if you established your own one-person church yesterday, you could start your university today and award a Ph.D. in nuclear physics tomorrow.

Tired with some paid work and watching pirated movies
I go for fishing that is finding fake PhDs to be exposed

I think unfortunately for U Cin Lamh Mang, he is likely to

I think unfortunately for U Cin Lamh Mang, he is likely to
be pursuing a fake PhD or dodgy PhD. I will explain why.
When you see "Online" and "PhD" together then you can
speculate that such PhD is likely to be a fake PhD. Same
for MSc and MBA. Online is not Part-Time nor Distance
Learning (which is marketed by universities as Part-Time).
So which unis provide online PhD? Only online unis like
Walden and Capella. So you know.

Are PhDs losers? Also are MBAs and lesser Masters!
PhD used to be gold the standard of academic achievement.
It is a terminal degree, the admission to a PhD programme is
demanding, in US, GPA of 4.5 out of 5.0 in some graduate
schools for some disciplines, and in UK 2:1 or second class
honours upper division is what you need to get into a PhD
although a first class honours or a Master degree is preferred.
But for overseas students, PhD is an easier route than a good
job that can lead to a career. For a young student in UK with
a honours degree may find it hard to secure a good graduate
programme. So for them, instead of going back to their home
countries to make 300 dollars a month, it is easier to proceed
to a MS/MA followed by PhD with scholarship or direct entry
into PhD degree programmes. After PhD, it is relatively easier
to get a low paid post-doc or fellowship job although may not
be as good as well paid jobs. PhD programmes are havens for
those cannot get good jobs. For British and Americans, unless
they are academically inclined they do not need any graduate
degree to get a decent living leading to a suburban 2 storied
house, 2 cars, 3 kids with a stay-at-home-wife, a nice doggie
and a boat. So while PhDs will strive to get a job, a 4 years
degree holder can lead such a good life. So in a sense PhDs
are losers for locals but for overseas students and immigrants
PhD stipends and academic track careers are not that shitty.
You see a lot of overseas students in any PhD programmes.
It is not that glory to have a PhD in some circles. PhDs are no
longer badges of honour but proofs of citizenship in loserdom.
The same story goes for a MBA, as in the past MBA were rare
and elitist degrees leading to lucrative careers but now even if
you have earned an MBA, you may not get the six figure jobs
in Walls Street, or City in London. MBA no longer is essential
status symbol of high achievers, it has become a good to have
paper. Still there is some value have in those degrees, as in the
past, a degree holder is seen as an intellectual, but nowadays,
basic degree holders are seen as illiterates in some social circles.
So peer pressure drives every Dick and Tom into graduate or
business degrees. It is especially true for people who earned
undergraduate degrees from less prestigious universities. As
some pompous Oxbridge graduates might say, not all degrees

Fakers in Open Access (Shitty) Peer Reviewed Journals?
I got some claims that some of those chaps are no
fakes as they have published peer reviewed journals
or edited books. Fine, but are those in crap journals
and edited books posted by dodgy quality publishers?
An edited book is a compiled collection of chapters
written by subject experts who has published a good
number of original works in peer reviewed journals.
What are Open Access journals? Are there fakes?
Some of them are dodgy if not outright forgeries.
A good example is below:

Correction: Dr. Shwe Lu Maung earned a PhD from Bangor
I was wrong to speculate that Dr. Shwe Lu Maung aka Shahnawaz
Khan earned a UoW validated PhD from Greenwich College, UK
or overseas college like that.
He has earned a PhD from University College of North Wales, which
later split from the umbrella body of UoW and his alma mater become
University of Bangor, which is well regarded Welsh University in UK.

An email received, it suggests your poor blogger to do more
work to educate Burmese. He claims 'Burmese people just
simply look up when someone got a fake qualification from
abroad without evening using their common senses whether
it is genuine or fake.' How true. This blog exists exactly for
that purpose, to educate fellow Burmese. However, we can
do only if and when we have hard evidence and we must be
aware that people do mistakes and they should be given a
second chance.
For example, the blogger learned about an ABD posing as a
PhD as early as 2003/4 but no action was taken because he
is a fellow Burmese. We want to be proud of his intellectual
achievement but he flopped. So thanks to him, this blog was
conceived. But we will delete any post if the person who is
accused as a faker gives us hard evidence such as the proof
of a completed thesis, removal of fake credentials, no more
fooling of Burmese with phony degrees from diploma mills.
Till then, our fellows of Hall of Shame will reside here till
then we know they will no longer fool others.
